We at Pesepay respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you about how we treat your personal data when you use our Pesepay platform and services (collectively referred to as “Services”) and when you use our website. This policy does not apply to third-party websites, products or services. By using the Pesepay Platform, You agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Definitions
- Account means a unique account created for You to access the Platform or parts of the Platform
- Company (referred to as either "Company", "We", "Us" or "Our" in this Agreement) refers to Pesepay
- Country refers to: Zimbabwe
- Device means any device that can be used to access the Platform such as a computer, a cellphone or a digital tablet
- Personal Data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual
- Platform means the system provided by Pesepay accessed by You on any electronic device, named Pesepay
- Usage Data refers to data collected automatically, either generated by the use of the Platform
- “You” means the individual accessing or using the Pesepay Platform as applicable
What personal data do we collect?
We are committed to adequately protecting your personal data regardless of where it is processed and regardless of your location. Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data from which the identity of the individual cannot be discerned (anonymous data).
We use different methods to collect data from and about you. Data is collected through the following:
- Personal data collected from our merchants. We will ask you to provide us with personal data when you apply to become our merchant. We may require you to provide us with additional personal data as you use our Platform. If you are a merchant applying to use our Platform, we will collect, store and process personal data relating to you and other individuals associated with you, such as Business Name, email address, physical address, Registration Document and other information as required to on-board you and meet applicable legal requirements.
- Personal data collected while processing your payment. If you are a Customer, when you make payments to, or transact with a User through Pesepay’s Services, we will receive your transaction information. If you are transacting directly with Pesepay, we receive the information directly from you. If you are transacting with a User, depending on how they integrated our Services, we may receive this information directly from you, from the Pesepay User or third parties. This may include your billing address, delivery address, purchase amount, date of purchase, payment method and additional necessary information required to process your transaction. Different payment methods may require the collection of different categories of information. The payment method information that we collect will depend upon the payment method that you choose to use from the list of available payment methods that are offered to you at the time of check-out.
- When you register for a Pesepay account on our Platform we collect your full name, email address and other details about you.
- When securing our Platform, we may collect details about your device, your transaction, your computer’s internet protocol and other technical information, through our data security and firewall providers.
How do we use your personal data?
We will process your personal data in the following circumstances:
- Where we need to perform the contract we are about to enter into or have entered into with you as our merchant.
- Creation and management of Pesepay accounts.
- To verify the identity of our Users.
- Process online payment transactions and authenticate Customers.
- Where it is necessary for our legitimate interests (or those of a third party) and your interests and fundamental rights do not override those interests, such as mitigating financial loss or other harm to our merchants, you and us.
- Where we need to comply with legal or regulatory obligations, such as detecting and preventing fraud.
- Where we need to improve and analyse our products, website, systems and tools.
- Monitor illegitimate activities and prevent information security risks related to our Platform.
- Evaluate your application to use our Services and verify your identity for compliance purposes.
- Respond to inquiries, send service notices and provide customer support.
Data Security
Protecting your information and your privacy is extremely important to us. Being entrusted with some of your most valuable data, we have set high standards for data security. We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed, altered or disclosed in an unauthorised manner. We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information inputted by you.
In addition, we limit access to your personal information to those employees and third parties who have a business need to know. Your Personal Data is only accessed by a limited number of personnel, authorized by You, who need access to the information to perform their duties. We also have procedures in place to deal with any suspected data security breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected breach where we are legally required to do so. Unfortunately, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure (e.g., you feel that the security of your account has been compromised), please contact us immediately.
This Privacy policy covers the Pesepay platform operated by Pesepay. Any other websites that may be linked to or by our Platform will be subject to their own policies which may differ from ours. You should carefully read the privacy policies of these websites before submitting any personal information.
Your rights
Under certain circumstances, you have rights under data protection laws in relation to your personal data:
- Request access to your personal data (commonly known as a “data subject access request”). This enables you to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you and to check that we are lawfully processing it.
- Request correction or an update of your personal data. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate data we hold about you corrected or updated, though we may need to verify the accuracy of the new data you provide to us. An example of this personal data is Settlement accounts.
- Request erasure of your personal data. This enables you to ask us to delete or remove personal data where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update this privacy policy at any time, and we will publish an updated privacy policy if we do so. The “Last updated” legend at the top of this Privacy Policy indicates when this Privacy Policy was last revised. Please note that changes are effective when they are posted and it is your responsibility to read the Privacy Policy from time to time in order that you are aware of any such change. Your continued use of the Platform and/or the services connected with it will indicate your agreement to any such change.
